Papelbon Rebounds!

Troubled closer Jonathan Papelbon notches his first save as an IronPig. It only took Lehigh Valley a miniscule 8 games in the month of June to hand a save situation over to the bullpen. The historic moment took place on June 20 against the mighty Lake Champlain Cannibals. Newly arrived closer Papelbon took the mound in the 9th inning with a 2 run lead and managed to close out the game without incident.
Thus far, Papelbon has been nearly perfect in his 3.1 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 walks, 5 strikeouts and 0 earned runs. The IronPigs now have a total of 4 team saves and are on pace for a whopping 12 for the season. At the current blistering pace, Jonathan should take over the team lead in saves (4) sometime in early August.
Our public relations department is actively seeking suggestions as to how to celebrate the milestone event. If you have any ideas, please drop them in the Suggestion "comments" Box.

I think it would be appropriate to bring Bob Wickman in for a ceremony. Wickman was legendary in his sole season at Illinois for destroying the franchises single season save record. In the Chows inaugural season Torres led the squad with 6 saves. Wickman saved 15 games in the Chows second season -- a record many Chows fans thought would never be broken. Then GM Brad Sherlag did the unspeakable and traded for Joe Nathan. Now Wickman is but a footnote in Chows history.
