Pitching is contagious at Wreckin' So Field. When Outlaw ace Jake Peavy one-hit the Spurs, Greg Smith, he of the 6.75 ERA and 2-5 record, said "Big deal, I can do that too." After the laughter died down, he did. GM Hildebrant retorted, "OK, I'm impressed. But until you jokers get your road record above .355, YOU"RE STILL STAYING AT HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS." |

Greg Smith took a no-hitter into the 6th inning at Wreckin' So Field where the
Outlaw Josey Wales beat the Dallas Ft Worth Spurs by the score of 4 to
0.
Smith(3-5) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Dallas Ft Worth offense.
He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 1 hit and 1 walk in 9 innings.
The left-handed Smith lost his chance for a no-hitter when Jeff Keppinger
doubled with two outs in the 6th inning. Outlaw managed only 6 hits on the
afternoon.
Armando Galarraga(3-3) took the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 8
innings of work. Red Robbins was obviously impressed with the pitching of
Smith, 'That guy made us look a little silly out there this afternoon. We
just couldn't get to him at all - everything was working for him. I just
hope that he got that kinda performance out of his system.'
