At Fighting Sioux Field the Vermont Fighting Sioux outscored the Dallas Ft
Worth Spurs 5 to 2.
Vermont erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs on
2 hits. After an out was recorded, Carlos Quentin got things rolling when he
was hit by a pitch. Raul Ibanez followed and he delivered a one-base hit.
Albert Pujols then drew a walk to load the bases. Chris Snyder was up next
and he drew a walk. Coco Crisp stepped into the box and drew a walk. Ryan
Zimmerman got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes.
Adam Jones stepped into the batter's box and he singled. Robinson Cano
followed, but he was set down on strikes. Vermont managed 7 hits in their
victory.
The victory was credited to Joel Hanrahan(3-1) who went 2 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Chris Sampson(3-2) ended up with the loss in relief.
This win by Vermont continues their recent hot streak. In their last ten
games, they have a record of 8-2. For the season, they are a division
leading 41-26. With the loss, Dallas Ft Worth has a record of 4-6 lately,
34-21 overall.
