40,374 fans were treated to a fine game at Fighting Sioux Field as only one
run separated the combatants at game's end. The Vermont Fighting Sioux won
by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
Vermont won the game with a run in the 8th inning. Jody Gerut tripled. Coco
Crisp was next and he delivered a base-hit. Crisp stole second with some
aggressive base running. After another out, Albert Pujols struck out, unable
to help the rally. Carlos Quentin stepped into the box and drew a walk.
Matt Joyce dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Dallas Ft Worth
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Jason Grilli(1-1) went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the win. Grilli
got help from Ramon Ramirez who earned his 3rd save. Jeremy Guthrie(5-3)
absorbed the loss.
