Gabe Kapler ripped 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Rich Harden allowed only 2
hits resulting in a big goose egg on the scoreboard for New Jersey at
Wreckin' So Field as the Outlaw Josey Wales beat the New Jersey Trash Heap by
the count of 7 to 0.

Kapler enjoyed a great evening at the plate. Every time he came up in the
latter innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He lofted a solo-blast
'downtown' in the 1st inning, stroked a single which was good for two runs in
the 3rd inning and ripped a solo home run (his 8th of the season) in the 7th
inning. Outlaw finished with 11 hits in the victory.

It was the 5th shutout of the year for Harden(12-4). Randy Johnson(11-9) took
the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 11 hits and 2
walks in 8 innings.

'I had good swings tonight,' Kapler said, 'Everything felt right'.

First baseman Adrian Gonzalez left the yard and had 2 RBI at Wreckin' So Field
where the Outlaw Josey Wales beat the New Jersey Trash Heap 5 to 2.

Ryan Dempster(19-4) pitched well for Outlaw in their victory. He went 6
innings surrendering 4 hits and 3 walks. Outlaw had 12 hits overall, while
New Jersey had 4.

Dempster got help from Jonathan Broxton who earned his 3rd save. Chad
Billingsley(11-6) was the loser. He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

defeated the New Jersey Trash Heap 6 to 5 at Wreckin' So Field.

Joba Chamberlain(10-2) came through for Mark Hildebrant with an excellent
relief stint. No one got on base in his perfect 1 inning. A wild affair,
this game saw the lead change 5 times.

Joakim Soria recorded his 26th save. Kyle Lohse(11-9) was the loser. He was
touched for 3 homeruns in his 7 and 1/3 innings of work.

At Fighting Sioux Field the Springfield Isotopes outscored the Vermont
Fighting Sioux 10 to 7.

Shin-Soo Choo had a big day against Vermont. He delivered a base-hit in the
4th inning and caught a hold of a bad pitch for a Grand Slam homerun (his 6th
of the season) in the 5th inning. Vermont was out-hit by Springfield, 17
hits to 12.

The winning pitcher was A.J. Burnett(9-4) who allowed 4 runs in 6 innings.
Matt Capps recorded the save, his 14th. The loss was charged to Jesse
Litsch(6-9). He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 6 runs in 5 and
2/3 innings.









Pujols hits career HR #300, bombs Sioux past 'Topes



Twice early in the game King Albert came to plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd and was given the free pass. Each time, cleanup hitter Chris Snyder made SPR pay, driving in 4 runs with a double and single.

The 4th time Pujols came ot the plate, VFS was trailing 5-4 in the 7th. With runners occupying 1st and 2nd, there was no where to put him. Albert immediately depoisted the next pitch into the bleachers for the GW 3R HR.

Chris Snyder had 2 base hits and 4 RBI as the Vermont Fighting Sioux topped
the Springfield Isotopes by a score of 7 to 5 at Fighting Sioux
Field.

Vermont scored 3 runs in the 7th inning. The key offensive moment was
provided by Albert Pujols who excited the crowd when he lost the ball over
the fence for three runs (his 27th of the season). Springfield threatened in
the 9th but Vermont was able to put down the rally.

J.C. Romero(3-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. B.J. Ryan got
the save, his 15th. C.C. Sabathia(12-10) was given the loss. He was knocked
around, surrendering 7 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.

'We won because we did the little things right.' Justin Rabidoux said after
the game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we
get in close games we don't make mistakes.'

Kelly Johnson HR in 10th drops Sioux




The Chows defense was the key to this game; they robbed 2 HRs and threw out the tying run at the plate to end the game.

Both pitchers, Dana Eveland and Jesse Litsch (season high 10 Ks) went the distance.

Chow Chows beat the Vermont Fighting Sioux in 10 innings by the count of 4 to
3.

Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Illinois won it in
the 10th inning. Kelly Johnson blasted a solo shot (his 7th of the season).
Illinois won despite being out-hit by Vermont 11 hits to 6.

Eveland(6-7) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. Jesse

Chipper Jones slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI and Ben Sheets dominated
striking out 10 Illinois batters as the Vermont Fighting Sioux defeated the
Illinois Chow Chows by the score of 9 to 4 at Fighting Sioux
Field.

Sheets(5-9) gave Vermont a solid outing. He went 9 innings allowing 9 hits
and 3 walks. Vermont rapped out 12 hits for the night.

Roy Halladay(12-9) was given the loss. He gave up 8 hits and 2 walks in 1 and
1/3 innings. When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Sheets
offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the
strikeout totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy
tonight - of course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'

Illinois rallied for the victory in support of Joe Blanton's solid 8 1/3 innings.

In a great finish the Illinois Chow Chows came back in the top of the ninth
and held on to win over the Vermont Fighting Sioux by a score of 3 to 2 at
Fighting Sioux Field.

Illinois won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs
using 2 hits. Richie Sexson was the sparkplug when he hit a bases-empty home
run (his 5th of the season). Hanley Ramirez came next and he drew a walk.
Carlos Pena then drew a walk. Carlos Beltran was up next and he grounded
into a double play. Kosuke Fukudome stepped into the box and lashed a
single. Illinois rapped out 7 hits for the night.

Joe Blanton(5-9) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Joe Nathan earned his 22nd save. Jason Grilli(1-2) took the
loss in relief. He allowed no hits and 1 walk without retiring a batter.

'The only way this one could have been better', said Blanton, 'was if we had
played it at home.'








Lackey outduels Ervin in matchup of past vs. present Sioux aces




John Lackey stymied his former team, VFS, holding them to 2 hits in the 2-1 Georgia victory. Ervin Santana was almost as good, going all 9, allowing only 3 hits and the 2 runs.

Adrian Gonzalez had 2 base hits at Wreckin' So Field as the strong Outlaw
Josey Wales beat the Vermont Fighting Sioux in 11 innings 5 to 4.

The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings. Outlaw was victorious
in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Mike Napoli blasted a solo
shot (his 12th of the season) making Outlaw the winners and sending the
47,895 fans home happy. Outlaw and Vermont each finished the night with 10
hits.

The win went to Joba Chamberlain(9-2) who allowed no runs in 4 and 1/3
innings. J.C. Romero(2-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He pitched 1
inning giving up 1 hit and no walks.

Manny Ramirez smashed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Wreckin' So Field where the
Outlaw Josey Wales beat the Vermont Fighting Sioux 9 to 0.

Ramirez had a big evening at the plate. He laced a one-base hit in the 2nd
inning, lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 4th inning
and rifled a three-run blast (his 32nd of the season) in the 6th inning.
Outlaw ended up with 10 hits for the game while Vermont had 6.

Ryan Dempster(18-4) got the win allowing no runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Aaron
Cook(6-10) suffered the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 6 and 1/3
innings.

Outlaw continued their winnings ways improving their record to a division
leading 73-46. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. With this loss,
Vermont has a 5-5 record of late, 63-48 overall.

Rich Harden couldn't do much wrong against Seattle at Wreckin' So Field last night. Harden struck out fifteen of the thirty-three batters he faced en route to a masterful complete game three-hit shutout. Every Pilot except Mauer struck out at least once. Troy Glaus (four times) and Jermaine Dye (three times) were Harden's favorite victims. Manny Ramirez hit his 30th homer and the Wales six runs allowed Harden to cruise.

Rich Harden pitched a 3 hit shutout at Wreckin' So Field where the mighty
Outlaw Josey Wales beat the Seattle Pilots 6 to 0.

Harden(11-4) was tremendous on the mound for Outlaw. He gave up just 3 hits
and 3 walks in 9 innings. Harden whiffed an impressive total of 15 Seattle
batters seeing his ERA drop from 3.31 to 3.10. Outlaw had 10 hits for the
afternoon.

Todd Wellemeyer(7-7) was hit with the loss. He gave up 9 hits and 1 walk in 6
innings. 'I thought it was my best performance in a long time,' said Harden.
'I had good command early in the game. I had my control and composure and
everything went well.'
