Sioux get 1st home win of B3, chase Halladay early

Vermont topped ILL 9-4 as the VFS bats finally woke up, and against Roy Halladay of all people. Newly acquired Ben Sheets improved to 3-0 for Vermont.

Chipper Jones slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI and Ben Sheets dominated
striking out 10 Illinois batters as the Vermont Fighting Sioux defeated the
Illinois Chow Chows by the score of 9 to 4 at Fighting Sioux
Field.
 
Sheets(5-9) gave Vermont a solid outing.  He went 9 innings allowing 9 hits
and 3 walks.  Vermont rapped out 12 hits for the night.  
 
Roy Halladay(12-9) was given the loss.  He gave up 8 hits and 2 walks in 1 and
1/3 innings.  When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Sheets
offered, 'The fan's really got into it.  It is fun to see them tally up the
strikeout totals up there in the stands.  Fortunately, I kept them busy
tonight - of course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
