At Empire Field, the New York fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Jon
Lester(3-5) finally bested his Vermont opposite, Aaron Cook(2-4), by the
score of 2 to 1.

Lester delivered a fine performance for New York. He allowed 5 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.42 to 3.88. Vermont had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

Lester got help from Manny Delcarmen who was credited with his 1st save. Cook was charged with the loss. He gave up only 4 hits and no walks in 6 innings.
