Jake Peavy tossed a complete game and second baseman Dustin Pedroia homered
and had 4 RBI at Wreckin' So Field as the Outlaw Josey Wales won in dramatic
fashion coming back to beat the Troy Haymakers by the count of 8 to
7.
Outlaw came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring
3 runs using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Ryan Theriot began the rally
when he drew a walk. Mike Napoli stepped into the batter's box and he lined
a base-hit. Pedroia then lost the ball over the fence for three runs (his
8th of the season) resulting in an exciting win for Outlaw and a wild
post-game celebration by the home town fans. Despite scoring in 5 separate
innings, Troy could not get the win.
The win was credited to Peavy(7-3) who went the whole way allowing 7 runs.
Jorge Campillo(3-3) was tagged with the loss in relief.
'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Pedroia noted. 'It was
looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it
really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there
at the end!'
