LCC jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on a Big Papi grand slam in the 1st off Sioux starter Tom Gorzelanny. VFS came back Tom Brady style with 7 in the top of the 2nd, chasing beanpole Brandon McCarthy. The Sioux held an 8-5 lead going into the bottom of the 6th, but flammable Sioux relievers Oscar Villareal and Brett "my wife sure better hope she's not home when I get back to the apartment tonight" Myers combined in a fuel-air munitions-like moment to allow 5. Cannibal reliever Rafael Perez threw a pitch to record LCC's 2nd save of the season. |

Brian McCann blasted a homerun as the Lake Champlain Cannibals beat the
Vermont Fighting Sioux by a score of 10 to 8.
Lake Champlain brought 5 runs across the plate in the 6th inning when they had
4 base hits. The key at-bat was by Jim Thome who made the home-town crowd a
happy bunch when he smacked a three-run homer (his 12th of the season). Lake
Champlain finished with 11 hits in the victory.
Derrick Turnbow(3-0) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Rafael
Perez recorded the save, his 1st. Oscar Villarreal(0-1) was the loser in
relief. He gave up 1 hit and 1 walk without retiring a batter.
Lake Champlain now has a record of 22-13. Justin Rabidoux was pretty down
after the loss. 'We've really been sputtering along lately, something like
0-10 in the last week or two. That won't get it done.'
