Second baseman Joe Panik cleared the bases with his grand slam and Alex Wood
took a no-hitter into the 6th inning at Fighting Sioux Field where the Lehigh
Valley Iron Pigs beat the Vermont Fighting Sioux 13 to 7.
 
Panik had a big day with his bat.  He depressed the partisan hometown fans
with a grand slam home run in the 1st inning and stroked a single scoring two
baserunners in the 5th inning.  Lehigh Valley ended up with 17 hits for the
game while Vermont had 7.  
 
Wood(1-0) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win.  The left-handed
Wood lost his no-hit bid when Eduardo Escobar singled with one out in the 6th
inning.  Patrick Corbin(2-1) took the loss.  Lehigh Valley scored big getting
6 runs off him in 3 and 2/3 innings.
