VFS 2 - NYK 0, Ibanez again provides 2R HR but Matt Joyce steals spotlight and game-tying HR

Another great duel, this time between NYK's draft darling Jon Lester vs. Sioux 2nd round pick Ubaldo Jiminez. Vermont tallied the game's only runs with a Raul Ibanez 2R HR in the 3rd and Jiminez and 5 relievers made it hold up. But it wasn't over until LF Matt Joyce robbed Michael Young of the game tying HR for the game's final out getting BJ Ryan his 1st save of the year. Phew.

At Fighting Sioux Field, the Vermont faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel.  Ubaldo Jimenez(1-0) finally bested his New York counterpart,
Jon Lester(0-1), by the score of 2 to 0.
 
Vermont had 2 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 3rd inning.  That
early scoring held up.  Neither team managed to score after the 3rd inning.
 
Jimenez got help from B.J. Ryan who earned his 1st save.  The loss was charged
to Lester.  He allowed 11 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings.
