The Vermont Fighting Sioux drove across the winning run in the 13th inning to defeat the Springfield Isotopes 5-4 in an exciting game. Jack Cust hit 2 HRs for SPR, a solo shot tying the game in the 7th and a 3R blast in the 9th off Sioux closer BJ Ryan giving the 'Topes a 4-2 lead, a lead their closer Jonathan Papelbon could not hold. By the end of the game all Vermont emptied its bench of position players and the box score witnessed an at bat by BJ Ryan necessitated by the bench-emptying 9th inning in an all out effort to tie/win the game. Good start to this series. The stands were packed with Vermont fans pining to get a look at a winning franchise, albeit the visiting NASBL World Series Champion Isotopes. |
