Tonight Vermont parties like it's 2006!!

Jeff Suppan turned back the clock a few years and gave the home fans about as good of a performance that could expect from this veteran. Soup went 8 2/3 before yielding to Ramon Ramirez who got Even Longoria to fly out to the warning track with the bases loaded. Vermont's 8-4 win was built by 3R HRs in each of the first two innings by Chris Snyder and Carlos Quentin (former Piggie gains revenge reads sub-headline). Quentin reached base safely in all 5 trips to the plate, almost as if he knew what pitches were coming. Perhaps the signs Coach/GM Kevin Burns flashes to the catcher did not change in the offseason?

Carlos Quentin had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Vermont Fighting Sioux defeated the
Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs by a score of 8 to 4 at Fighting Sioux
Field.
 
Quentin helped send the fans home happy.  He lashed a single in the 1st
inning, belted a three-run homer (his 3rd of the season) in the 2nd inning,
laced a base-knock in the 5th inning and slapped a one-base hit in the 7th
inning.  Vermont had 15 hits for the afternoon while Lehigh Valley had 6.
 
The victory went to Jeff Suppan(1-0) who went 8 and 2/3 innings, allowing 4
runs. Suppan got relief help from Ramon Ramirez who gained credit for his 2nd
save.  The losing pitcher was Glen Perkins(1-3).  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 15 hits and 5 walks in 8 innings.
