Second baseman Brian Roberts lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI
at Turnpike Stadium where the Springfield Isotopes beat the Dallas Ft Worth
Spurs 12 to 4.
Springfield went ahead for good in the top of the 3rd inning scoring 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Rafael Furcal started the
rally when he lined a single. Furcal was safe at second on a stolen base.
Ryan Freel then lashed a single which scored a run. Freel took second on the
throw. Roberts followed and he cracked a two-run shot (his 1st of the
season). Springfield out-hit Dallas Ft Worth for the game, 12 hits to 9.
The victory went to Javier Vazquez(1-0) who went 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing 4
runs. David Bush(0-1) ended up with the loss. He served up 4 gopher balls in
5 innings.
