David Ortiz had 4 hits and 2 RBI and Erik Bedard racked up an impressive total
of 13 strikeouts at Creutzfeldt-Jakob's as the Lake Champlain Cannibals beat
the Seattle Pilots by the count of 9 to 2.
It was a good day for Lake Champlain thanks to Ortiz. He smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 3rd of the season) in the 2nd inning, doubled
which plated a run in the 4th inning, doubled in the 5th inning and doubled
in the 7th inning. Lake Champlain finished with 12 hits in the victory.
Bedard(1-1) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. Shaun Marcum(0-1)
took the loss. Lake Champlain scored big getting 6 runs off him in 3
innings.
Bedard was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out there.
The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates. We got the victory
and I'll sure take 13 strikeouts anytime!'
