Outlaw Powers By Springfield

Adrian Beltre's 4 homeruns and 9 RBI led the Outlaw Josey Wales past the Springfield Isotopes in round one of the Tastes Great playoffs. The long ball was the difference in this series. Springfield hit only .232 and Outlaw only .228, but the Wales blasted 8 long balls in the five games.

In game two, Outlaw came out firing against CC Sabathia, scoring 5 runs in the first 3 innings and tagging the big man for a total of eight runs, prevailing 8-5. Jake Peavy picked up the win despite surrendering 5 runs on 11 hits. Beltre went deep twice and Crisp once for the Wales.

The series moved to Wreckin' So Field for game 3 but the Outlaw fans weren't happy when Franscisco Carmona baffled Outlaw all day for a decisive 4-0 Springfield win. Infante drove in 2 and Ethier and Cargo also contributed RBI hits.

Hudson, Venters, and Soria returned the favor in game 4, blanking Springfield 5-0 as Ortiz and Beltre went deep.

Game 5 was a 1-1 pitcher's duel until the bottom of the 7th when Outlaw erupted for 8 runs, aided by 8 straight batter's card dice throws. Beltre capped off the inning with a 3-run blast for a 9-1 Outlaw lead. Springfield made it interesting by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th and putting 2 more men on base, but the Mexicutioner Joakim Soria put out the fire by coaxing pinch hitter Ramon Santiago to fly out, nailing down the game and the series for Outlaw.
