Less Filling Championship Series- Game 5

Grundy County, IL: Game 5 was a matchup of game 2 starter Chris Carpenter (21-7 3.38 ERA) and Trever Cahill (10-8 4.20 ERA). Carpenter, who pitched 7 and two thirds of shutout ball in the second game, did not disappoint in game 5; going the distance while only giving up 4 hits and 2 walks with 8 strikeouts in the complete game win. Cahill pitched valiantly in the loss, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits in 7 innings. He really only made on bad pitch, but it ended up being a 3-run homerun to Jim Edmonds in the 1st inning. That homerun proved to be the difference, and the Haymakers move past the Grizzlies onto the NASBL championship.

Josh Hamilton and Jose Bautista are neutralized in the series, going a combined 6 for 32 with 1 homerun and 2 RBI's. It was Corey Hart who was the hitting champ, hitting 3 homeruns with 7 RBI's in the series. Series MVP was Chris Carpenter who went 2-0 in two starts with a 0.54 ERA. In almost 17 innings, Carpenter only gave up 8 hits and 2 walks while striking out 14.
