Peavy and Soria four-hit Georgia

Jake Peavy was cruising into the ninth with a one-hit, ten strikeout shutout when he ran into trouble fast and needed relief. The Road Kill put up three consecutive hits and Joakim Soria was quickly dispatched from the bullpen. Soria induced Markakis to hit into a 6-4-3 doubleplay. The shutout was gone but Peavy was able to breathe a sigh of relief. When Alex Rios's popup landed in Omar Vizquel's glove, Joakim's work was done for the day.

Jake Peavy whiffed 10 batters as the Outlaw Josey Wales defeated the Georgia
Roadkill by a score of 3 to 1 at Wreckin' So Field.

Peavy(10-3) was in control of the game from the outset. He gave up just 4
hits and 3 walks in 8 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.89 to 4.62. Georgia
had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

Joakim Soria gained credit for his 16th save. Kelvim Escobar(3-7) was the
losing pitcher. He pitched 8 innings and surrendered 10 hits and 5
walks.

When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Peavy offered, 'The fan's
really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up
there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of course, it
would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
