Corpas Salvages One for Georgia Against Rival Outlaw

It was Manny Corpas's turn to save the day in Outlaw Pond. With runners on second and third and no out in the bottom of the ninth, Manny blew a third strike by Aramis Ramirez. Outlaw summoned Manny "The Bat" Ramirez back from his day of rest to pinch hit, but Corpas induced him to ground weakly to second base. Pinch hitter Ramon Hernandez was quickly dispatched for the third out to end the game. Helton, Ordonez, and Rios all did damage by going deep.

In a dramatic ending the Georgia Roadkill staged a comeback and held on to win
over the Outlaw Josey Wales by the count of 6 to 5.
 
Georgia came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs
utilizing 3 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Alex Rios got things going
when he smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 4th of the season).  Jason
Varitek stepped into the batter's box and he ripped a base-knock.  Jose
Bautista then drew a walk.  Jared Burton then unleashed a wild pitch.  Aaron
Hill came to the plate and lined a base-hit scoring the final run of the
inning.  Georgia had 9 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Dustin McGowan(6-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and
allowing 5 runs. McGowan got help from Manny Corpas who earned his 9th save.
Tim Hudson(8-5) was charged with the loss.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 8
and 1/3 innings.
