Albert Pujols hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the Vermont Fighting
Sioux topped the Dallas Ft Worth Spurs in 13 innings by a score of 6 to 4 at
Turnpike Stadium.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Vermont was
victorious in the 13th inning. Ryan Zimmerman opened up the inning nicely
when he drew a walk. Zimmerman swiped second base. After an out was
recorded, Eric Byrnes stepped up to the plate and he delivered a one-base hit
resulting in a run. Byrnes took second on the throw. Derek Jeter followed
and he doubled scoring the final run of the inning. Vermont had 14 hits for
the game and Dallas Ft Worth had 11.
The winning pitcher was Hideki Okajima(1-0) who allowed 1 run in 1 and 2/3
innings. Billy Wagner gained credit for his 1st save. David Weathers(0-1)
ended up with the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 1 hit in 2/3 of an
