Felix Hernandez didn't allow a hit until the 8th inning and David Freese had 2
base hits at Fighting Sioux Field where the Vermont Fighting Sioux beat the
Grundy County Grizzlies 9 to 0.
 
Hernandez(3-1) dominated Grundy County hitters.  He didn't give up much, just
1 hit and 3 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.45.  The right-handed
Hernandez lost his chance for a no-hitter when Jonathan Villar doubled with
nobody out in the 8th inning.  Vermont totaled 15 hits on the night.  
 
Jerad Eickhoff(0-1) absorbed the loss.  He pitched 5 innings allowing 9 hits
and 1 walk. When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Eickhoff
was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to
be in for a long night.  Hernandez brought his 'A' game with him - he had
good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly.  He probably only made one or
two bad pitches the entire game!
