TG First Round Update
Lehigh Valley and Springfield played the first two games of the series today. I included the PAC for the game two 9th inning. It was a wild comeback followed by a miserable loss in the 10th. Editor's note: Game two was the most entertaining loss I have played.
Game 1 Summary:
Game 1 Summary:
Tony Watson
quieted any hopes that Springfield may have had of a comeback as the Lehigh Valley
Iron Pigs defeated the Springfield Isotopes by the score of 7 to 5 at The Pig
Pen. Lehigh Valley
jumped on top of Springfield in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they tallied
2 runs on 4 hits. Lehigh Valley finished
with 9 hits in the victory. Stephen
Strasburg(1-0) allowed 5 runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory. Watson was
credited with his 1st save. Masahiro
Tanaka(0-1) was hit with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up
6 runs in 4 innings.
Game 2 Summary:
The Springfield
Isotopes edged the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs in 10 innings at The Pig Pen by
the score of 5 to 4. Both teams were
tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings.
Springfield came out the victor in
the 10th inning. After an out was
recorded, Shin-Soo Choo clubbed a solo
home run. Springfield managed 9 hits in
their victory. George
Kontos(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Edwin
Jackson gained credit for his 1st save.
Yimi Garcia(0-1) was
charged with the loss
in relief.
Game 2 PAC 9th & 10th Innings: (Keep in mind that Aroldis Chapman started the 9th inning for Springfield)
