Patrick Corbin whiffed 12 batters as the Vermont Fighting Sioux outscored the
awful Phoenix Pony Express in 11 innings 4 to 1.
 
The score was tied at 1 after nine.  Finally, Vermont prevailed in the 11th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Chad Pinder keyed the rally when he laced
a one-base hit.  Carlos Correa came to the plate and lined a single.  Willy
Adames dug into the batters box next, but he struck out.  Francisco Cervelli
followed next and he clubbed a three-run home run giving Vermont the win much
to the delight of the home town crowd.  Neither team was able to score until
the 6th inning.  
 
Reyes Moronta(4-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1/3 of an inning and
allowing no runs. Ross Stripling(5-7) was tagged with the loss in relief.
Vermont knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 3 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.
