Charlie Morton(1-3) finally bested his Mt Pirongia opposite, Miles
Mikolas(0-2), by the score of 2 to 0.
Morton pitched a solid game. He didn't allow much, just 7 hits and 2 walks in
8 innings. Morton recorded 9 strikeouts dropping his ERA from 4.17 to 3.43.
Vermont had 8 hits for the night.
Morton was helped out by Kirby Yates who recorded his 6th save. Mikolas was
the losing pitcher. He gave up 8 hits and 4 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.

Ian Happ had 2 base hits at Fighting Sioux Field where the Mt Pirongia Kiwis
beat the Vermont Fighting Sioux 5 to 3.
Mt Pirongia scored 3 runs in the top of the 2nd inning when they had 3 base
hits. After an out was recorded, David Dahl kicked off the action when he
banged out a single. Oscar Mercado was the next batter, but he struck out.
Happ then doubled driving in a run. Victor Caratini came up and he blasted a
two-run home run. Vermont had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came
up short.
Yonny Chirinos(2-0) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory.
Sean Newcomb got the save, his 1st. Jack Flaherty(3-2) took the loss. He
allowed 5 runs and 8 hits in 8 innings.
Justin Rabidoux was in a contemplative mood after the tough loss, 'It is
really hard to lose this kind of a game. It may seem weird to some, but it
is easier to take the occasional blow-out loss. It is the ones that just
barely get away that hurt so much - like this one!'
