Chase Utley had 2 base hits at Fighting Sioux Field as the Canyon Country
Cannons lost a heartbreaker to Vermont Fighting Sioux by the score of 5 to
4.
 
Vermont won the game with a run in the 9th inning.  After an out was recorded,
Jeff Keppinger reached on an error.  Denard Span came next and he stroked a
one-base hit.  Jake McGee then uncorked a wild pitch.  Kevin Frandsen
followed and he laced a base-hit resulting in an exciting win for Vermont and
a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.  Vermont banged out 9
hits on the night.  
 
Jason Motte(3-1) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 1 and 2/3 innings.
McGee(0-2) was given the loss in relief.  With this win, Vermont has a 11-10
record.  They have been 4-6 lately.  With this loss, Canyon Country has a 4-6
record of late, 4-6 overall.

In a dramatic ending at Fighting Sioux Field the Vermont Fighting Sioux won in
their last at-bat beating the Dallas Ft Worth Spurs by the count of 3 to
2.
 
The game was won by Vermont when they scored a run in the 9th inning. Garrett
Jones smacked a single.  A balk was called.  Two outs later Willie Bloomquist
came up and he was walked intentionally.  Jason Castro was up next and he
banged out a single to load the bases.  Kevin Frandsen came up to bat and
lined a base-hit giving Vermont the win as 25,887 happy fans joyfully
celebrated.  Vermont out-hit Dallas Ft Worth for the game, 8 hits to 4.
 
The victory was credited to Jason Motte(2-1) who went 2/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. Matt Lindstrom(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.

Right fielder Bryce Harper had 2 base hits at Fighting Sioux Field where the
Dallas Ft Worth Spurs beat the Vermont Fighting Sioux 1 to 0.
 
Doug Fister(1-0) gave a fine effort for Dallas Ft Worth.  He went 6 innings
surrendering 2 hits and 2 walks lowering his ERA to 3.71.  Vermont threatened
in the 9th but their rally came up short.  
 
Vinnie Pestano earned the save, his 2nd.  The losing pitcher was Mat
Latos(1-1).  No one has been able to stop Dallas Ft Worth lately as they
lengthened their winning streak to 6 games. 'We're running on all cylinders
now', said Red Robbins.  'I probably shouldn't change a thing and let the
guys continue to put up the wins.'
