Tastes Great SS Controversy???

Following the selection of the rosters for the 2009 NASBL All Star Game there have been some grumblings about the selection of IronPig SS Jose (happy feet) Reyes as the starter for the midsummer classic. A closer look at the numbers reveals why, Reyes was selected to be the starter ahead of Illinois SS Hanley (ooh what a big bat I have) Ramirez.

H Ramirez: .260 average, 19 2b, 5 3b, 18 hr, 46 rbi, 12 sb, .975 fielding %
J Reyes: .313 average, 25 2b, 19 3b, 10 hr, 44 rbi, 43 sb, .982 fielding %

As the numbers clearly show, while Ramirez is having a good year also, Reyes' numbers across the board are quite good also. In our opinion, the Tastes Great team would do well with either player in the lineup, but we expect that the Tastes Great pitching staff would rather have Reyes' behind them when the pitch is delivered. Therefore, we support the decision to start Reyes instead of Ramirez and look forward to an exciting Tastes Great victory.

Hanley believes Jose is a fine SS -- he just wanted credit for his power and RBI's!
